Wendy Ebsworth is a sign-language interpreter who has established herself as the theatrical leader in her field.

She interprets at theatres including the Royal National Theatre‚ Lyric Hammersmith‚ Royal Court‚ Donmar Warehouse and Hampstead. In opera she has worked for The Royal Opera House-Covent Garden‚ Welsh National Opera‚ Opera North‚ English Touring Opera and Opera Northern Ireland‚ and has sign-interpreted every production at English National Opera for the last six seasons. She also signs for weekly news programmes on GMTV and Meridian TV and has interpreted on the film sets of ’Count of Solar’ (BBC2) and ’Four Weddings and a Funeral’. In 1992 she won an award for Outstanding Contribution to Small Theatre and was made an MBE in the 2001 Birthday Honours List.
