Anne Sophie Duprels trained as a pianist and studied at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris‚ graduating in 1998 with a first prize. During this time she sang Princess L’enfant et les Sortilèges throughout France‚ Anacréo in Palermo‚ Clitoria Le Grand Macabre with the Ensemble InterContemporain‚ Miss Silberklang Shauspieldirector in Massy and Paul Méfano’s Madrigal in the Grandes Ecuries‚ Versailles. In 1998 she was invited by Teatro alla Scala to take part in their world première of Aldo Clementi’s Carillon‚ sang for ‘Tremplin Jeunes Chanteurs’ in Avignon‚ and gave a recital at La Scala for their Young Artists Programme. As a leading exponent of contemporary music she has worked with ensembles such as 2e2m‚ Sillages and TM‚ including Toshi Ko in Bernard Cavanna’s La confession Impudique (Arcal) and Gilbert Amy’s D’un espace déployé for soprano and double orchestra in the Cité de la Musique‚ Paris and Auditorium Ravel‚ Lyon.

Recent concert work has included appearances with the BBC Concert Orchestra (James Lockhart‚ Robin Stapleton and Barry Wordsworth)‚ the Brabant orchestra (Jan Stulen) and the Philharmonia Orchestra (David Parry). Recitals have taken her to the Montpellier Festival and the Cité de la Musique in Paris (pianist Susan Manoff) and as far afield as Beijing (pianist Antoine Palloc). In 2001 she was voted the Classical Revelation by ADAMI.

She made her UK debut as Violetta (Opera Holland Park) where she subsequently returned for Magda La Rondine‚ Lucia Lucia di Lammermoor and Luisa Luisa Miller. Other UK appearances include Mimi (Scottish Opera and Royal Albert Hall/Raymond Gubbay)‚ Thaïs and Rusalka (Grange Park Opera)‚ Violetta and Cio-Cio San (Opera North) and Oksana Tcherevichki (Garsington). Roles outside the UK include Theresa Benvenuto Cellini (Strasbourg)‚ Fiordiligi (Glimmerglass and Strasbourg)‚ Elle La Voix Humaine and Thérèse Les Mamelles de Tiresias (Eurobottega production in conjunction with La Scala in Cosenza)‚ Susanna‚ Despina‚ the Witch Hansel and Gretel and Naïade Ariadne auf Naxos (Lyon and Châtelet)‚ Rita Rita (Opéra Comique‚ Paris)‚ die erste Zofe Der Zwerg (Geneva)‚ Carolina Il Matrimonio Segreto (Opera de Lyon)‚ Marzelline Fidelio (Nantes and Angers)‚ Amanda Le Grand Macabre‚Thibault in the French version of Don Carlos (San Francisco) and Adina L’Elisir D’Amore.
